Let’s be honest, Instagram can feel like a bit of a mystery sometimes, can’t it? On one post you share you’re getting all the likes and comments, but the next is like it never existed.

With these 8 tips, you can get more eyes on your Instagram content, spark conversations and drive more engagement. So, whether you’re new to using Instagram for your business, or just want to level up, let’s dive in.

  1. Get Creative with Reels

If you’re not already using reels, you should be. They are the star of Instagram right now with people using them to stay up to date, find new and exciting businesses, or make purchasing decisions.

Make reels part of your daily routine. Heading to meet a client? Launching a new product? Sharing what a day in the life of your job looks like? Create a short video about it. It’s a great way to showcase your business and what customers can expect from the brand and the people behind it too.

Instagram suggests creating 10+ reels per month and keeping them between 30-90 seconds long to get better engagement. Anything over 90 seconds may not get recommended to new audiences.

  1. Don’t Ditch the Hashtags

A lot of people say that hashtags are dead. But trust me, they’re not (especially on Instagram and TikTok). Using the right hashtags will help your posts appear in places beyond just your followers’ feeds. Choose one that actually relates to your content and you’ll start to see a difference.

  1. Add a Little Audio

Putting music alongside your posts doesn’t just have to be used in reels. You can also add audio to your carousel posts, single images, and also to your stories. Use an audio clip that’s trending at the time of posting. Instagram even suggests what’s hot when you’re posting, so use it to your advantage.

  1. High Quality Instagram Content, Always

High-quality visuals are a must. This doesn’t just apply to Instagram to be honest, it should be a rule anywhere you share images or videos. If your photos or videos look grainy, blurry, or just ‘meh’, people will keep scrolling. It could also send the wrong message about your brand. If your content doesn’t look professional, people might wonder if your products or services are the same. Always aim for crisp, high-resolution content that reflects the quality of your brand.

  1. Engage with your audience

Don’t just share a post and walk away from the platform. Get talking! Reply to comments, DM people back, and engage with your followers’ posts too. It will not only show that you care, but also boost your visibility on the platform and keep you top of mind for your audience.

  1. Make your content relatable

How many times have you scrolled through your own Instagram feed and seen something that made you think ‘that is SO me’. That’s the kind of vibe you should be thinking about for your posts. The more relatable your content, the more likely people are to comment, share, or tag someone. Plus, it helps people feel connected to your brand, which is always a win.

  1. Check (and make use of) Your Insights

You’ll find the insights section under your ‘professional dashboard’ for any business or creator accounts. It’s the key to understanding your audience, seeing how your posts are performing and checking the best time of day to post. Take note of this insightful data and use it to your advantage. If users are engaging more with a certain type of reel or post, share more of it! If your audience is most active at 4pm, try sharing your content at that time to see how far it reaches.

  1. Original Content Only

Instagram can tell when you’re reposting TikTok’s or someone else’s content. And guess what? They’re not keen. If you’re recycling videos with watermarks or copying content, your reach could take a hit. Create fresh, original posts, and Instagram will reward you.

Marketing on Instagram shouldn’t be a chore, it’s all about experimenting and having fun. Try new things, get your team involved, and don’t take it too seriously. These tips will help you get the most out of your content, but the real magic happens when you let your creativity shine. So, grab your phone, start posting, and see where it takes you!
